Allergic & Non-Allergic Asthma
Asthma, a lung disease that causes breathing difficulty due to narrowed airways, can be divided into two types: allergic and non-allergic.
The symptoms of allergic asthma are triggered by an allergic reaction from inhaling allergens such as dust mites, pet dander, pollen, and mold. Alternatively, non-allergic asthma is triggered by factors such as anxiety, stress, cold air, dry air, smoke, and exercise.
However, both types of asthma share many of the same symptoms, including coughing, wheezing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. In addition, both cause inflammation in the airways and can be relieved with medication and proper management. Consult your physician for details on treatment options.
